Again this is using the current BCS standings (as of Monday November 19, 2007) to align a 16 team playoff.
Current Round 1 Match-Ups would be:
16. Virginia @ 1. LSU 15. Hawaii @ 2. Kansas 14. Boston College @ 3. West Virginia 13. Texas @ 4. Missouri 12. Florida @ 5. Ohio State (Gators roll again!) 11. USC @ 6. Arizona State (This game will be played this week for real) 10. Oklahoma @ 7. Georgia 9. Oregon @ 8. Virginia Tech
I get tired of hearing the ESPN crew talk about the SEC being the best conference in college football each and every week and then discrediting it two minutes later. Last year it was the Ohio State hype of the century from the network. Ohio State is the best team in the history of all football. Troy Smith is GOD…etc. Florida 41-14 Ohio State. This year it seems to be happening again. All i am hearing is how Oregon QB Dennis Dixon is the “Clear” Heisman front-runner. Um, no. Is Dixon a great player, yes. But the “Clear” favorite? No way. he is in the running but lets not forget about the “Best Player in College Football” (ever heard that somewhere before? and don’t even get me started on the Peyton Manning/Charles Woodson/ESPN conspiracy) Darren McFadden. While splitting carries he has ran for 1300+ and 12 TDs in (as ESPN keeps reminding everyone) the best conference in football. McFadden has also completed 2 TD passes. I also like the stats posted by Grahm Harrell of Texas Tech passing for 4400+ and 38 TDs so far. I don’t care about how well his team finishes. The award is for the best player, not the best player on the best team. I would like to see a Heisman winner from a team with a losing record. Anyhow, just something I wanted to rant about for a bit.
